Morning, Noon, and Night Sickness

Updated: May 24

I haven’t ever been as miserable as I have spent this day.

The story starts AND ENDS with these vitamins called Ritual. I was drawn to them because they were organic and all other kinds of stuff that sounded like a good idea at the time. I was WRONG.

SO WRONG.

I had been struggling to take these vitamins since the day I knew I was pregnant and I thought, based on what other woman had told me, that they were just all nasty so I decided to suck it up and just swallow them. Because of my #gastricbypass I have to take a double dose to make sure I get what I should from them. They caused me grief from the moment I first began to take them beginning with my first “salmon burp.” If you’ve never burped and tasted and smelled fish, thank your lucky stars because I was turned off after that.

Next, I tried to take them with fruits or other strong flavors like coffee, but that didn’t overpower the lemon oil they put in them.

So yesterday, I choke them down with my coveted Starbucks horchata beverage and 15 minutes later...salmon burp. I couldn’t control myself and wound up throwing up in my mouth. Here’s where it gets more disgusting. Thinking only of my child and the nutrients I knew it needed, I swallowed it, then this process repeated itself about three more times before I finally gave up and found a bag to throw up in (because I was in the car!) I will never let this child forget the havoc being wrought on me during this pregnancy.

Luckily, I had a doctor’s appointment before all of this happened and came away with a cute picture of the baby waving at me and I’ll leave you with that!
